Rolls-Royce, Boeing Invest In Reaction Engines

13 April 2018
Reuters reports that Rolls-Royce and The Boeing Company both have invested in the Reaction Engines rocket engine company. Rolls-Royce and Boeing are the “latest blue-chip companies to back the start-up’s thermal management technology.” Reaction Engines is working on “ultra light, miniature and extremely powerful heat exchangers to develop an engine that could power hypersonic planes and help to deliver satellites to space.” The company also hopes to commercialize “parts of its technology so it can start generating revenue in the next 18 months.” According to CEO Mark Thomas, the company is focusing initially on electric vehicles, energy generation and aerospace engines. Rolls-Royce “could use the technology in the next-generation engines it is working on and is keen to explore that area, Thomas said.” (Image: Reaction Engines A2.
